CHAMBER COMMITTEES

Community Affairs
This committee specializes in discussing topics pertaining to community issues and concerns. These topics include the lease lid project, Sound Transit proposals affecting the University District neighborhood, and matters related to SAFECO, the University of Washington and other community members.

Membership Committee
The Membership Committee works with the Ambassador Program to welcome new businesses to the University District and works on programs such as the Wi-Fi program on the AVE. They also work on getting feedback from members about the Chamber and carryout programs to increase membership (such as conducting membership drives). Specifically, their purpose is to serve and grow the membership of the Chamber and facilitate ways for members to enjoy the benefits that the Chamber has to offer.

Marketing Committee
This committee's purpose is to promote the University District community on a local and regional level. Through marketing, this committee generates more interest in our neighborhood, and peaks interest in events and the day-to-day vibrancy of our community. This committee maintains the Greater University Chamber of Commerce website and coordinates marketing materials for the district.

StreetFair Committee
This committee is critical in setting the pace for the University District StreetFair, our greatest source of income for the Greater University Chamber of Commerce. The committee responsibilities include: jurying and screening prospective arts and crafts vendors for the event, discuss the layout of the fair and other logistics of the event.

Finance Committee
This committee primarily consists of Chamber Board Members. They deal with the budget of the chamber, long range fund development and financial oversight.

Luncheon and Member Events Committee
This committee plans and organizes monthly luncheons for members. They discuss ideas for networking and social events, luncheon topics, speakers, catering and other event logistics. They also work on the Chamber's Annual Awards Banquet/Silent Auction.
