NEW "U" FOR THE U DISTRICT CONTEST

The U District needs YOU to put your CREATIVITY to work!

The UDistrict Community is seeking a new identity: a fresh signature “U” as a brand that visually represents the character and spirit of the U District.

This new “U” will fly on pole banners on the AVE and on NE 45th Street to be a statement of who we are and a welcome to our community. It will also appear on printed matter promoting the University District and possibly be incorporated into the artwork in the Sound Transit Train station on Brooklyn between NE 43rd St and NE and 45th St.(to be completed by 2020).

WHO MAY ENTER All who reside, work in, or love the U District.

DATES Enter contest between Sept.1-Nov 1, 2011.
All entries must be postmarked by midnight Nov. 1, 2011.
Winners announced: Dec. 1, 2011. Prizes awarded: Dec. 8, 2011.

PRIZES 1st Place: $1,000.
2nd & 3rd Place: valuable gifts from U District merchants
Honorable Mentions will be displayed along with 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners at local businesses hen the contest is complete.

HOW TO ENTER Send in your design via US Mail. Any medium, as long as it fits within an 8“ x 11” format and include it with the official entry form. Design may be based on an existing font or be completely original.

A digitized version of the design is not required at the time of entering, but the winning designer must supply a digitized file, suitable for printing in Black and White, and scalable from the size of a postage stamp (1" x 1") to the size of a banner (4' x 4').
