I began attending the Sanctuary Art Center at age sixteen in 2004. When I first came to the art center, I was homeless and struggling to stay in high school. The Sanctuary Art Center provided me with the ability to invest myself in art as much as I wanted to, and gave me the support I needed to feel confident in pursuing the arts as a profession. I am now studying fine art and two-dimensional animation as a senior at The Evergreen State College. I still remain very closely connected to the Sanctuary Art Center because it is still a place where I receive support and inspiration. I let art be my guiding force through life. I enjoy constantly learning new forms of art from animation to instillation. I have always been drawn to colored pencil and acrylic paint. I try to make images that lure people into a fantastical scene with vivid colors, strong emotional expressions on characters, and symbology that gives the image context. |
